Portrait of Ashley Williams, Senior Compliance Analyst.

Introducing the IRB-SBS Student Research Support Specialist: Ashley Williams, IRB-SBS Senior Compliance Analyst. Ashley is passionate about working with students as they design their own research projects. With over 20 years of experience in teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students, she is happy to work with students at any phase of the research process such as thinking through research ideas, helping to determine if you need to be reviewed by the IRB-SBS, and assisting you as you work through the IRB-SBS review process.

With a PhD in Linguistics, Ashley taught at UVA in American Studies and Anthropology. Her research examined questions about language, identity, ethnicity, and gender in locations as diverse as the San Francisco and suburban Detroit Chinese-American communities, and the online world of satirical blogs.

Please note that the IRB-SBS Student Support hour is designed to help researchers before they submit their study documents to the IRB for review and approval. If you have already submitted your study in iProtocol for the IRB-SBS to review, please work with the IRB staff member assigned to your study. This will help the pre-review process move forward quickly, so you can get IRB approval and start enrolling for your study.

Email or call Ashley, or stop by to chat with her during the IRB-SBS Student Support hour at the Georges Student Center in Clemons-- no appointment necessary!
